Basho is the sister restaurant of Douzo on Boylston Street in Fenway. Next to Upper Crust, Basho features a spacious bar. The lighting and modern atmosphere is pleasing. Basho is not as loud as the clubby music from Douzo and they do take reservations. The menu has a lot of similar items as Douzo as well. Service is prompt and attentive.
From the Robata Grill (On Skewer)), we had the Spicy Duck with mushroom for $6.25 and was tender and we would definitely order again.
From the Fried section or Agemono, we tried the Fried Chicken Meat Balls with robata teriyaki sauce for $8.00.
For maki rolls, we tried spicy yellow tail, spicy tuna, shitake mushroom tempura, philadelphia all around $5.00- $7.00 each roll. Our favorite was the shitake mushroom tempura, which was earthy and crunchy. The sushi was fresh, well made and delicious.
