One of my dearest friends from high school is a very beautiful woman. Back in the day, before she got married, every guy was smitten over her. She has glowing skin and truly beautiful inside and out. Superwoman really takes care of herself, does yoga many times a week and is gluten-free. She was kind enough to let me in on one of her secrets.
She shared that she and her husband make green smoothies and so I followed several recipes, Kimberly Snyder’s version and Oh She Glow Green Monster Movement’s reader recipes. The smoothie is full of greens (romaine, spinach, kale), fiber and fruits and does takes a moment to get accustomed to.
Adapted from Oh She Glows and Kimberly Snyder
Yield: 1 serving/2 cups
- 1 and 1/2 cup water
- 1 ripe banana, preferably peeled and frozen
- 2 handfuls organic spinach, kale or romaine (I prefer spinach)
- 1 tbsp chia seeds
- 1 apple
- 1 pear or peach
- juice of a fresh lemon (but can substitute bottled)
- 3 celery stalks
Starting with the liquid, water and lemon juice. Now add in the chia. Next, add in the spinach followed by celery, pear or peach, apple and the banana on top. Blend until smooth.
Romaine or baby spinach, stalks of celery and a cup and a half of water then blend peaches or pears and frozen banana
