Area Four has had a lot of anticipated and great buzz in the food world lately. I thought it was time to check it out during they day. Throughout the day, it is filled with professionals working in the area and undergrad and grad students.
The ebbs and flows of the cafe were interesting. There were waves of caffeine-seeking individuals at hourly intervals- 2pm, 3pm, then 4pm. On off peak hours, from after 4pm until close, the cafe has a slightly audible chatter and great ambiance for creative thinking. When I was in a mental rut, I glanced over and fiddled with the wooden puzzles.
I love the clever coffee press lighting, wooden games and industrial stools.
I enjoyed an iced drip coffee and large ginger molasses cookie. There certainly were other bars, pastries and cookies to try, but I had a need to buy the last chewy spiced molasses cookie. The sugar crystals provided a nice texture, but I think I prefer my own rendition.
I checked out the menu of the bar and oven and I definitely will be back for a pizza and salad sometime soon.
