The Upper Crust Pizzeria, Beacon Hill, Boston

The original Upper Crust location is located on Charles Street and opened in ’01.

Each of their locations have Slice of the Day and offer creative pizzas on a rotating basis. In addition, they have many other Boston related named pizzas. There are many varieties of pizza pies including pesto, white, seafood and red sauce.

My salad sitting in the corner. The Feta and cheese squares had a nice cheese and green flavor.

Patrons have a choice of regular or whole wheat crust and have an open dough area.

I really enjoy how in each Upper Crust restaurant there is pizza tins hanging or some form of metal.

Regina Pizzeria, North End, Boston

Regina’s is almost 100 years old and aside from the North End location, you can find their pizza in Polcari restaurants and many malls in Massachusetts. My friends and I went on a Tuesday original Regina’s in the North End off Endicott and Thacher.

Some of our friends waited in line for 15-20 minutes at 6:30pm and there were approximately 10 people after our group. The whole house was packed solid and there were a few women in black t-shirts minding the tables.  The smell of sauce wafts through the room.

My friends ordered a pitcher of Blue Moon while they were deciding on choices of size and type of pies and end up choosing #29 Prosciutto Con Spinaci #10 Margherita (Fresh Basil).

Waitresses were folding boxes in their free moments

There was a lot of sports paraphenalia and fun music.Prosciutto Con Spinaci has Regina sauce and Ricotta cheese, spinach, prosciutto, cherry tomatoes, Mozzarella cheese and basil.

Margherita, tomato sauce, chopped basil with Mozzarella and Pecorino Romano.

The waitress was a bit huffy, although one of my friends was still eating her pizza and the rest of the table was not halfway through with their pitcher of beer, she kept asking if she gave us the check or if we were all set. We understand they are exceptionally busy and restaurants want to turn tables, however, to be overly watchful and not discreet about wanting a party to wrap up, it was quite jarring. Although the pizza is delicious, the service has much to improve upon.

The long line on our way out of the restaurant.

Frank Pepe’s Pizzeria, New Haven, CT

Frank Pepe’s crust is unbelievable. Although this pizzeria is famous for the white clam pizza, we waited in line for approximately 45 minutes to try red sauce and a unique white sauce pizza.

The second Frank Pepe’s with a large dining room.

What makes the thin crust pizza so special? The fresh ingredients? The coal oven? Was it worth the wait in the rain and in the line? Yes. The line never waned throughout the entirety of our wait, which is a testament to the loyal customers and newcomers. A lot of folks drove by to pick up their take out.
