Located in Inman Square, this place does not look like the kind of place you’d naturally frequent. Formerly the Abbey, it looks like a plain black wall. You’d never really notice it while walking past. Inside it’s dimly lit with a cool, dark, unusual vibe. One side is the dining area and the other is the bar. Bathrooms are clean, pink and pretty. Service is attentive and friendly. Trina’s also does a brunch on Mondays, not Sundays, so restaurant industry people pack the place! I’ve heard they have this bourbon based drink that comes with a slice of bacon dipped in chocolate and finished with fleur de sel! They also have daily specials for the dog of the day and the blue plate special. The dog of the day was a Hawaiian hot dog with pineapple and the blue plate special that day was chicken parm.
BBQ Sweet Potato Chips and Dip
Sweet crispy crunchy slices of goodness that fool you into thinking you might be eating something semi-healthy! I wish they gave you more dip though.
Summer Pasta with Shrimp spring veggies, Parmesan and balsamic vinegar
Soft springy pasta with peas, red pepper, squash, tender shrimp covered in a parmesan sauce and a generous drizzle of tangy balsamic vinegar and fresh chives. I would come back for this dish alone. I might even try to recreate it!
Baked Haddock sweet potato and bacon hash, sauteed spinach
Flaky tender baked white fish, check. Sauteed spinach that isn’t drenched in oil, check. Finely julienned slivers of sweet potato with crispy bits of bacon all well seasoned that doesn’t look like the typical chunky breakfast hash, check. This entree was really delicious. The hash was a pleasant surprise.
Calamansi Collins Thai basil gin, calamansi, soda water
A refreshing summer drink. Good in concept, not sure if it was so great in execution however.
Shaddock Bols genever, Aperol, St. Germain, lemon juice
The bartenders here don’t play! They serve you strong drinks but this one was sweet and tart, a good balance.
