Nocturnal Eats: Cali Holiday Eats

“If you’re fond of sand dunes and salty air… quaint little villages here and there…”

Here are some of the things I ate on my epic vacation to Cali: San Francisco/Monterey

Head-on shrimp, crab, and clams all in the whole shebang sauce at Boiling Crab
“Make a cow happy… Eat Seafood!” “You sucked WHAT where?”

Scallion Pancake Wrapped Shrimp (left) Fried Egg in Shoyu, Coconut Toast and Kaya Jam (right)
Phil’s BBQ- Ribs and Onion Rings (the way they should be), followed by a trip to -itis city.
Lee’s classic BBQ Pork Banh Mi
Barbeque Pork Banh Mi Wrap (first wrap I’ve seen yet!) sesame braised pork, Vietnamese pickled daikon and carrots, English cucumber, jalapeno and cilantro aioli, Napa slaw and sesame ginger dressing
Chego’s charred asparagus grilled asparagus topped with garlic lemon chili cilantro and a dusting of Parmesan cheese
Chego’s Ooey Gooey Fries carne asada fries topped with cilantro, bird’s eye chilis, jalapenos, whole fried garlic, cheese and “mystery” sauce that tasted like kimchee ranch… a Mexican-Korean surprise.
Chego’s Tiny’s Prime Rib Bowl rice bowl with fried egg, Chinese broccoli, horseradish, fried shallots, jalapenos, medium rare Prime rib, another amazing nod to innovative fusion cuisine
Chego’s One Chubby Pork Belly Bowl Rice bowl with grilled tender pork belly, cilantro, bird’s eye chilis, sriracha, salsa verde, fried egg, Chinese broccoli, fried shallots and peanuts and wherever I could fit it in my tummy…
No trip to Cali is complete without In-n-Out, need I say more? 🙂
