Maia, Figueres, Spain

Salvidor Dali is one of my favorite Surrealist artists and is a genius. He is memorable for his ability to commercialize his art rich with phallic references, ants, eggs and ants motifs. We visited Figueres to visit his Museum and Mausoleum.

In the home of Dali, we found the most delightful bakery. Maia is on Placa de la Palmera, 9 Figueres, on the way to the ticket booth to the Dali Museum.

The friendly ladies with their uniforms greeted us and suggested various pastries and sandwiches.

The bunyelos (sugary doughnuts) with anise seed were delightful.

This long biscuit had a sugary syrup and pine nuts drizzled on top

More xixos (sugary donut with cream inside)
