Lulu’s Sweet Shoppe, North End, Boston Revisited

Salted caramel and its salty sweetness is one of my weaknesses and Lulu’s salted caramel cupcake is the perfect way to address the fix (previous review of Lulu’s Sweet Shoppe).

The heart motif is a burst of whimsy and femininity on Salem Street. Lulu’s Sweet Shoppe store front has a bright pink awning and can not be missed.

Lulu’s has a huge variety of cupcakes, candy and colorful treats throughout the store. The heart theme is throughout the store and I love that is on the chalkboard.

It was difficult to choose from all the flavors such as strawberry, tiramisu, whoopie pie, turtle cheesecake, almond joy, red velvet, nutella, oreo, peanut butter and carrot.

As I was deciding on my second cupcake choice, the staff mentioned how dangerous it is for her to work surrounded by cupcakes. She also mentioned how the baker is so thin and he is so lucky. The pistachio looked most interesting to me it is a flavor I have no seen at other cupcake stores and I also love pistachio ice cream.

Salted caramel and pistachio cupcake

The salted caramel cupcake was amazing as always. The moist chocolate cake was injected with a nice salty caramel and topped with a thin layer of chocolate frosting and caramel swirl.

The pistachio cupcake had a fluffy and sweet butter cream. I liked the hint of pistachio flavor, but feel it could be more prominent. Perhaps some more chopped pistachios in the cake itself?
