Blue Stove, Nordstrom, Burlington Mall, Burlington

After bridesmaid duties at Nordstrom, we stopped by Blue Stove for a lunch break. I enjoyed the open space and the red glass orb lamps. Small plates are a great way to taste a little bit of everything and it was a great option for us because we wanted to have a light lunch.

Our table started with some wine, complimentary olives, olive oil and bread.

We shared the Fig & Blue Cheese Salad with Candied Pecans for $6.95 and the Crispy Parmesean Polenta & Arugula Salad for $5.95. The polenta had a nice texture, but it was under salted. The rocket was nicely dressed and light. Candied pecans with bleu cheese is a classic combination, but the sweetness of the figs gave nice flavor and a chewy texture. I liked this salad the most.

The Chive & Ricotto Gnocchi with sherry Mushroom Puree for $5.95 had a nice soft texture and the flavor of the sherry and mushroom was decadent and rich. I wish the chive flavor was more apparent. I only had to have a few bites to feel satisfied.

The thin, mini taco shell held the cilantro lime chicken, bits of tomato and white cheese for $7.75. I wish the cilantro or chicken had more flavor, but it was good. Our server said that the Cilantro Lime Chicken Tacos are very popular.

The crispy Salt & Pepper Calamari with Lemon Zest for $7.95 had amazing texture. The calamari was very fresh and I loved the batter exterior. Our table did universally agree that the calamari was heavy handed on the salt, but the twist lemon juice helped dilute and counteract the impact of the salt.

Our waitress was very sweet and offered us a complimentary taste of the Roasted Butternut Squash with Shitake Mushrooms & Sage Brown Butter for $6.25. This was my favorite dish of the meal. The sweetness of the squash and earthy mushrooms with sage butter was a great combination. The large shavings of parmesean added the perfect layer of flavor.

The Nordstrom’s Makers Chocolate reception stick was a nice end to the meal. A little bit of chocolate to satisfy the sweet tooth.

The Sweet Potato Frites with Cilantro LIme Aioli $7.95 and Banh Mi Vietnamese Chicken Sandwiches $8.95 looked very appealing to me and if we are ever shopping at the Burlington Nordstrom, I will definitely stop by the Blue Stove again.
