Muir Woods Trading Company Cafe, Mill Valley

Looking for something outdoorsy to do, we rented a car, drove across the Golden Gate and after massive traffic, fog and a pleasant drive through Mill Valley, we went to Muir Woods, or what we like to call Dinosaur Trees. Dinosaur Awesome.

Throughout our hiking on the trails and exploring the majestic redwoods we would hum This Land is Your Land.

This land is your land, this land is my land
From California, to the New York Island
From the redwood forest, to the gulf stream waters
This land was made for you and me

We loved all the wood carvings, murals and especially sculptures of John Muir and the bears.

We stopped by the Muir Woods Trading Company Cafe and noticed the Best Things I Ever Ate suggested by Tyler Florence the Marin Melt. You know how much we trust Tyler Florence.  The Cowgirl Creamery Mt. Tam and Pt Reyes Creamery Toma Cheeses on hearty wheat bread from  Rustic Bakery in Larkspur was tasty. It’s $9.95 by itself or $13.95 in a combo with Vegan Tomato Soup. The tomato soup was warming, nicely seasoned and perfect in the atmosphere.

Although the Marin Melt’s cheese was delicious and pressed bread was nicely toasted,  there were parts of the sandwich didn’t have the perfect distribution of gooey cheese. Save the extra dollars and get the regular grilled cheese.

What is worth every cent was the honey glazed corn bread. The bread was nicely moist and sweetened from the honey. Even more awesome. We would definitely return to Muir Woods and hike to the beach next time around. The “cathedral” is spiritual. The silence is absolutely peaceful and makes one really appreciate nature and the beauty of the outdoors.
