El Porteno Argentinian Empanadas, Ferry Building, San Francisco

El Porteno’s pollo empanadas are a must purchase whenever we are near the Ferry Building. They flakey crust of the empanada dough and savory chicken filling with Fulton Valley all natural chicken, chicken chorizo, raisins and olives are unreal. A must get again and again.

The carne was also delicious with Prather Ranch Organic Dry-Aged Grass Feed Beef, pimiento stuffed olives, raisins and hard-boiled eggs and the Mushrooms (Champinones) with Fresh Seasonal Local Organic Mushrooms by Far West Fungi, Shallots, Parmesan Cheese, Crème Fraiche, however we still prefer the pollo.

The Fugazzetta (cheese & onion) with Aged Cheddar Shaved Organic Onions, Oregano was unreal. The layers of melted cheese and sweet onion slices were delicious. Perfection.

We had to have another pollo one. Could not resist. This one is one of the best meat ones.

There was an emapanada with mushrooms, chard and cheese and reminded us of a Greek spinach and feta pie.

Next time, we want to try the sweet empanaditas such as the Empanadita de Banana y Dulce de Leche Dulce De Leche with Bananas and Alfajores de Dulce de Leche (Argentine cookies joined together with dulce de leche).
