Ingredients
- Chocolate chips - Used to add chocolate flavor and also create the base of the bark.
- Roasted pecans - You can use halved or chopped pecans. For a sweet and salty combo use roasted salted pecans.
See recipe card for quantities.
How to Make Pecan Bark
Step One: Put the chocolate chips into a microwave-safe bowl and heat it with 20-second ingredients. Stir each time. Repeat this until the chips are 75% melted, then stir until they are totally melted.Â
Step Two:Â Line a cookie sheet with parchment. Spread the melted chocolate on the prepared cookie sheet.
Step Three: Add the pecans on top. Gently press them down so that they stick.Â
Step Four: Put the pan in the fridge to harden. Break into pieces and enjoy.
Top Tip
If you don't have a rimmed baking sheet to use, you can use a larger sheet pan and spread it out or use a glass storage container or airtight container that is larger in size. You just need a good base to spread it out and let it harden.
Substitutions
- Dark Chocolate - You can make this into amazing dark chocolate pecan bark but use dark chocolate chips instead of regular. You could use white chocolate as well.
- Nuts - If you want to use peanuts or cashews, you can easily swap those in place of the pecans.
Variations
- Graham crackers - You can add graham crackers as the base and just pour the melted chocolate on top of the graham crackers. You could use either regular graham crackers or cinnamon ones.

Equipment
All you need to make this sweet treat is a microwave-safe bowl, baking sheet, parchment paper, and a spoon to spread out the melted chocolate. It doesn't get easier than this!
Storage
Once you make this chocolate pecan bark, keep it stored in an airtight container. It can be kept at room temperature or in the fridge, whatever you prefer.
You can also easily freeze this simple recipe by storing it in freezer-safe bags. I do this when I make a large batch and want to work on portion control.
Common Questions
Due to its simplicity, you don't have to add anything other than pecans and chocolate. The chocolate adds the sweetness, and the pecans add the crunch. I find that this is sweet just the way it is, but if you feel that it needs to be sweeter, you can always candy the pecans in some brown sugar the next time you make it.
Nope! All that you have to do is make sure that the chocolate chips are melted and then let the fridge harden the bark. It's as easy as that.Â
The easiest way to turn this into pecan pie flavor is to add candied pecans on top of the chocolate.
Sure. You can add a few sprinkles or even a little bit of sea salt for a sweet and salty taste! Alternatively, you can drizzle white chocolate on top of the pecans to add a pop of contrast.
