Equipment
The great thing about making this simple vanilla syrup is that you don't need much. Basically, a saucepan to heat up the water, and an airtight container or jar. That's it!
Storage
Once this homemade vanilla bean syrup is made, storage is important! Simple syrup recipes like this need to be stored in a jar with a lid or an airtight container. You can make your own vanilla syrup and have it for quite a few days, stored in a safe container in the fridge.
To get the freshest flavor, don't freeze. While it's possible to do so, I only recommend freezing this in ice cube form, not as a storage option for longevity of use.
The reason for this is that it's easy to make and, once stored, can be saved for quite a bit of time. I just make it and keep it stored in the fridge until I'm ready to use it.
Common Questions
There are so many ways that you can use this rich, simple syrup. It's a great addition to morning coffee, Vanilla Iced Coffee, any cold brew drink, and really, any of your favorite coffee drinks. The sweetness level also makes it great to add to ice cream as well!Â
If you're not a coffee drinker, don't stress. The flavor is also really great for iced drinks like iced tea or a Raspberry Milkshake.Â
The ratio, as written on the printable recipe card below, is really the perfect balance, but it's up to you if you want to add more water. This will stretch it further for use, but it will also make it less sweet and have less vanilla flavoring.Â
