Ingredients
- Flour - I use all-purpose flour for my flour mixture.

- Ice water  - Using cold water helps make a flaky crust.

How to Make 3 Ingredient Pie Crust
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Step One: Add 1 ⅓ cup flour to ½ cup butter in the food processor. Pulse until the butter is cut in.
Step Two: Drizzle in the water as the food processor is running. If you chilled your water with ice cubes remove those before adding the water.
Step Three: The will come together to form the dough. Shape into a ball with your hands.
Step Four: Put the dough on a silicone mat or other lightly floured surface.Â
Step Five: Roll out the crust. Add flour as necessary. Put it in a 9-inch deep dish pie plate.
Step Six: Trim the excess crusts off the side. Leave a one-inch overhand if you want to crimp the edge.
Step Seven: You can crimp the edges on the sides of the crust or use the scraps to make a decorative border.
Step Eight: Put the crust in the fridge to chill for at least 20 minutes. Fill the crust with your pie filling, and then bake.Â
Top Tip
You can also use a large piece of parchment paper to roll out the pastry dough to keep it from sticking. Adding a bit of flour to the rolling pin helps as well!
Substitutions
- Unsalted butter - I've always used salted butter for the best results, but if you only have unsalted butter just add a pinch of salt.
Variations
- Pastry cutter - Using a food processor is the fastest and easiest way to make this crust, but you can also use a pastry cutter if that is all that you have. Make sure that you take the time to cut in the cold butter and flour well!Â
- Top crust - Turn this into a double crust recipe by using it as a bottom crust and top crust. Just follow the simple steps twice to make it for your pie dish.

Equipment
This is the easiest pie crust to make because all you'll need is a food processor and a rolling pin.
Storage
I also use this as a great pre-made pie crust recipe because I can prep, and have it ready and waiting in the fridge to bake once the time comes. This gives me time during the busy holidays to have my crusts ready to bake at any point in time when the oven is free.
Common Questions
Absolutely. This would be super yummy to use as a basis for a savory chicken pot pie or a quiche if fruit pie fillings aren't your thing. This is why I think that this is the perfect pie crust recipe - because there are options for use outside of a sweet baked filling.Â
All sorts of options! Savory pies are great, but don't forget simplicity, like pumpkin pie, apple pie, custard pie, and anything else! Even sweet potato pie filling is perfect!Â
I like to use the tines of a fork to press into the sides. This gives it a fun and fancy look with minimal effort.Â
