One of the reasons I think that this is the best chocolate chip cookie recipe is because it uses basic ingredients that deliver maximum flavor. Even though it's a new recipe for these baked cookies, the outcome still has that familiar taste of a classic chocolate chip cookie recipe, with a lot less work!
These are the best cookies for parties and gatherings, and they are even simple desserts to have on hand throughout the week. They not only have the best flavor, but they prove that chewy chocolate chip cookies don't have to be complicated or a long, drawn-out process to make!

How to Make 5 Ingredient Chocolate Chip Cookies
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Add parchment paper to two baking sheets.
Step One: Mix the softened butter with a mixer until creamy. Add the sugar and mix until fluffy and light.
Step Two: Add the eggs and mix until it is smooth.
Step Three: Add the flour. Since you are using self-rising flour no other dry ingredients are needed.
Step Four: Mix just until it is incorporated.
Step Five: Add in the chocolate chips. We like to add plenty! But you could do half chips and half nuts or another mix-in.
Step Six: Stir until they are evenly distributed.
Step Five: After that, drop the cookie dough balls onto the sheet using a medium-sized cookie scoop. Keep them a few inches apart.
Step Six: Put the pan in the oven and bake for 12 minutes or until the cookies are light brown on the edges. Finally, let the cookies cool completely on the baking pan or transfer to a wire rack.
Top Tip
Make sure the cookies are far enough apart that they won't touch when they are baked. You can use the above photos as guidance.
Substitutions
- Brown sugar - Instead of using all white sugar, add a little bit of brown sugar to this chewy cookie recipe.

- Extra chocolate chips - You can squeeze a few more chocolate chips into the cookie dough if you want.

Equipment
A measuring cup, medium cookie scoop, prepared baking sheet, electric mixer or stand mixer, and a large bowl are needed for these delicious chocolate chip cookies.
Storage
Once you make and bake this easy chocolate chip cookie recipe, you can add the baked cookies to an airtight container to keep them fresh and delicious or place them in a freezer bag for later.
I like to wrap the cookies in plastic wrap before freezing them to keep them as fresh as possible.
Common Questions
Nope! Using a cookie scoop and placing the dough on the baking sheet is perfect. The dough will expand as it bakes, creating a round cookie just like that. If you want you can invert a mug over the cookies after they come out of the oven and move it around to make the cookies more circular. See a tutorial on this here.
Be sure to give them space on the baking sheet, and also make sure that you have them in a single layer. I like to give 2-3 inches on the cookie sheet so that they don't spread and run into each other.
You can! Once you mix all the ingredients together to make the cookie dough, simply cover it and store it in the fridge. When it's time to bake the cookies, scoop the cookie dough and bake.
