Ingredients
- Butter - I use salted butter but if you have unsalted butter just add an extra pinch of salt.
- Brown sugar - Adds warmth and sweetness.Â
- White sugar - Adds sweetness.
- Egg - Helps to create a binding agent for the cookie dough.
- Water - Thins out the dough a bit.
- Vanilla - Pure vanilla extract gives the best flavor.
- Oats - Gives these cookies a chewy texture.
- Dried cranberries - Adds natural sweetness and flavor.
- Flour - I use regular all-purpose flour in the cookie dough.Â
- Salt - Salt enhances the other flavors.
- Baking soda - To add texture.
- Cinnamon - For flavor.

How to Make Oatmeal Craisin Cookies
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Add parchment paper to two large baking sheets.
Step One: Cream the sugars and butter in a large mixing bowl.
Step Two: Add the vanilla extract, eggs, and water. Mix well.
Step Three: Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients.
Step Four: Add the cranberries. Mix the cookie dough until it is mixed well.
Step Five: Use a cookie scoop or ice cream scoop and make 36 cookies. Put them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving a few inches between each one.
Step Six: Bake for 12-14 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.Â
Step Five: Cool on a wire rack.
Top Tip
You can just scoop with a regular spoon if you don't have a cookie scoop. Just try to make them all the same size. It helps to use two spoons to push the dough onto the pan.
Variations
- Dark chocolate - Add some extra flavor to these cookies with chocolate! You could also add white chocolate chips, semi-sweet chocolate chips, or chocolate chunks.
- Make giant cookies - If you want to make these cookies bigger, make bigger balls of dough. Just be sure to space them out so that they don't run into each other as they spread while baking.
- Spices - While I love the hint of cinnamon in this recipe, you can use pumpkin spice or other fun flavors in its place.
- Raisins - Swap out the craisins to make classic oatmeal raisin cookies. It's just that simple.

Equipment
To make this delicious recipe, you'll need the bowl of a stand mixer, a hand mixer or stand mixer, baking sheets, and a wire rack for cooling.
Storage
If you have leftovers of this chewy cookie, add them to an airtight container and keep them stored. You can store them at room temperature or in the fridge.
You can also freeze cookie recipes like this by letting them cool completely and then add them to a freezer-safe container.
Common Questions
Absolutely! Just double the ingredients listed and bake them in batches. You'll likely have to bake this recipe in about four different batches to double it. Just be sure to measure the ingredients carefully!
I don't recommend that! The cookies will likely stick to the cookie sheets if they aren't prepared, and why do that? You're just wasting bites of that cookie goodness that way!Â
I always use parchment paper but non-stick cooking spray helps to spray on the baking sheet so that the cookies don't stick if you don't have parchment.
