Forget about taking a trip to the coffee shop, and make your own Almond Latte at home. It's not only fun to make this easy recipe at home, but it's also a great way to save some money, too. There's just something about putting up your feet and sipping the morning away on your very own latte that you made from the comfort of your own home.

I am not a morning person. I am a fan of iced coffee in the summer and a fan of hot coffee in the winter. And I'm an even bigger fan of homemade coffee drinks that are easy, delicious, and much cheaper than anywhere else. The trick to making a good latte is that you really only need a few simple ingredients to let those key flavors shine.
You can easily make specialty drinks at home that you used to wait in line for and pay big bucks for. Get ready - the days of a basic latte are gone. You're about to create that special coffee moment easily every morning at home with these easy steps.

Ingredients
- Espresso or very strong coffee - You can use any strong brewed coffee, instant coffee, or even leftover coffee that you heat. A shot of espresso or two also works.
- Brown sugar - Adds sweetness to the drink. You can really add as much or as little as you want.
- Almond extract - For that delicious almond flavor. A little goes a long way.
- Hot milk - Use almond milk or any milk of your choice.
See recipe card for quantities.

How to Make an Almond Latte

Step One: Add the brown sugar to the hot coffee in a tall glass or latte glass.

Step Two: Stir until the brown sugar dissolves. Add the almond extract, then pour the hot milk into the mug.

Step Three: Stir well.

Step Four: Top with whipped cream and toasted almonds.
Top Tip
If you have a handheld milk frother, use it. It's a super fun way to mix everything together while also giving the drink a fluffier texture than stirring by hand. It's not required, but it's fun to add!
Substitutions
- Vanilla extract - If you want more vanilla flavoring than almond, just use vanilla extract.
- Milk - You can use oat milk, regular almond milk, cashew milk, or any type that you have on hand.
- Sweetener - You can swap in any sweetener you enjoy. White sugar, simple syrup, or a flavored syrup like vanilla all work well.
Variations
- Iced coffee - Not a fan of hot coffee? You can easily make this into an iced almond latte by using chilled coffee and adding ice cubes. It's perfect to make ahead and store in a mason jar in the fridge.
- Frozen almond latte - Just add the chilled ingredients and ice to a blender. Blend until smooth.
- Toppings - Whipped cream and toasted almonds are my favorites, but chocolate shavings, caramel drizzle, or a dash of cinnamon are delicious, too. You can even drizzle a little maple syrup over the top.

Equipment
All you need to make this almond latte recipe is your favorite heat-safe glass. If you want a frother, use that, too. You'll also need a way to brew your coffee and heat the milk.
Storage
I don't recommend storing any leftovers of this drink, since the recipe makes just one serving. If you can't drink it all right away, you can store it in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Just be sure to heat it up again in the microwave, and then give it a good stir before sipping.

Common Questions
Absolutely. I love sipping on coffee drinks throughout the day, but after a certain time, I know that the added caffeine isn't a good idea. You can easily use decaf so that you don't have to worry about staying up all night if you want to make this an afternoon treat or evening sipper.
You can. Adding in some sweet syrups to the mixture is a simple way to up the sweet factor. Caramel syrup never fails. You can also stir in honey or maple syrup, too.
