Variations
There are options when it comes to enjoying this single serve apple crisp just how you like it!Â
- Use your favorite kind of apple - Any apple variety will work for this dish. I love using crisp apples, so I typically use Royal Gala apples, Pink Lady, or Honeycrisp apples. If you want tart apples, Granny Smith apples are a great choice as well. Any kind of apples will work.
- Protein powder - You can make this a high protein treat by sneaking in a tiny bit of protein powder with the flour and other topping ingredients. That way, your small batch apple crumble dessert will have a protein kick!Â
- Toppings - I prefer to stick with the basics and serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream on top.

Equipment
All you need to make this single serving apple crisp recipe is a small mixing bowl, fork, and a small ramekin. It's as simple as that!
Storage
Since you're making such a small apple dessert, you likely won't have to stress about storing it. But if you do have leftovers, simply cover them with plastic wrap and keep them stored in the fridge.
I don't recommend freezing this recipe due to the fact that it will change the texture of the crumble topping and also since it's a simple dessert that is made when you're actually craving the taste.
Common Questions
You can add anything that you want. Caramel bits would be super fun! I also love adding other fruit to apple crisps. Try adding cherries or pears.
Just be sure that you're baking it for the entire time listed on the recipe card. As long as you measure out the ingredients and follow the steps, it should set up and have the texture that you're looking for. Also, the cooling process after the dessert is done baking is important as well for crisping up that topping, so don't rush to try and eat it before that, or you will notice a difference in the texture.Â
