- Baking soda - Adds texture to the cookie.
See recipe card for quantities.
How to Make a Single Serve Sugar Cookie
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Add parchment paper to a small baking sheet.
Step One: Add all the ingredients (leave out 1 teaspoon of the white sugar) into a small bowl.
Step Two: Form a large cookie dough ball, and roll in the reserved teaspoon of sugar. Place on the baking sheet.
Step Three: Put the pan in the oven and bake for 14-16 minutes or until the edges are golden-brown.
Top Tip
To get the perfect chewy texture, you'll want to let this soft sugar cookie cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet after baking. This will help it firm up as well.
Substitutions
- Almond extract - Instead of using vanilla extract, you can use almond extract. Just swap it out for the same measurement.
Variations
- Chocolate chips - You can easily add some chocolate chips into the mix of this cookie recipe or put a few on top once they're cooling.
- Cut - out sugar cookies - If you want to make this festive and fun, change up the look using cookie cutters for the festive season.Â
- Sprinkles - Roll the ball of dough in rainbow sprinkles or chocolate sprinkles before baking instead of the extra sugar.

Equipment
All you need to make this best sugar cookie recipe is a small bowl, a mixing spoon, a cookie sheet, and parchment paper. Small batch recipes like this are perfect because you don't need a ton of equipment.
Storage
I highly doubt that you'll have any leftover to save for a next time, but if you do, just wrap it in plastic wrap and store the leftover sugar cookie in an airtight container. This way, it will stay soft and fresh to enjoy later.
Common Questions
It makes a good size one! The sugar cookie dough will spread as it bakes, so you don't have to worry about that! And since you're only making one cookie and not a whole batch, just add the dough to the middle of the baking pan and let it do its thing.Â
You have to be sure that you measure out the ingredients as listed on the recipe card, and pay attention to the baking time. Many people will overbake cookies because they aren't looking at the edges of the cookies to see if the cookie is actually baked.Â
The cookie edges will turn golden-brown long before the middle of the cookie, but this is actually the indication that you need to show that the cookies are baked and ready. This method also gives you that chewy center with crisp edges that everyone loves and craves!Â
