This Iced Coffee Slushy will change your idea of coffee. It is cold, creamy, and delicious. My teenagers started making these after we got the Ninja Slushi machine, and now it’s become an afternoon habit around here.

Don't get me wrong, I truly enjoy a cup of hot coffee in the morning hours. But this coffee slushie recipe really is a game-changer. It is so simple to make at home, without those high coffee shop prices for frappuccinos.
Pair with some homemade Triple Chocolate Muffins for a fun treat, or keep it light and simple as it is. It's safe to say coffee lovers will agree this easy homemade coffee slushie recipe takes frozen coffee to a whole new level.
Be sure to try my Vanilla Iced Coffee or this Frosted Coffee Recipe for two other cool coffee options.

Ingredients
- Cold coffee - This can be leftover coffee from the day prior, cold brew coffee, or just cooled hot-brewed coffee from the morning. The depth of flavor will vary based on how strong the coffee is that you use.
- Milk - You can use any type of milk for this.
- Simple syrup - This sweetens the drink and helps it freeze into a slush.
See recipe card for quantities.

How to Make a Coffee Slushy Recipe

Step One: Add the coffee to a measuring cup. Next, add the milk.

Step Two: Finally, stir in the simple syrup. You can adjust this to your preference, but slushie machines do require at least 4.5% sugar to freeze properly.

Step Three: Pour directly into a slushie machine.

Step Four: Let the machine start the process. If you have a frappe button, that is the one to push.

Step Five: Freeze according to the machine's directions. This Ninja Slushi machine takes about 30 minutes to freeze the coffee when using chilled ingredients. Dispense the coffee slush into the glass of your choice.
Top Tip
Chill your drinking glasses while the slushy freezes. This helps it stay frozen longer after dispensing.
Substitutions
- Milk - You can use low-fat milk, almond milk, oat milk, or any other option. The fat content of the milk will make the creaminess level of the slush vary. Higher-fat milks are better if you want it creamy.
- Coffee - You can use any flavor or type of coffee. Decaf is an easy way to drop the caffeine, but flavored coffee is a fun option, too. I like using vanilla coffee or caramel coffee.
Variations
- Syrups - Change the flavor by changing the syrup. You can use caramel syrup or caramel sauce in place of the simple syrup. You can also make our Vanilla Bean Simple Syrup Recipe to use in this drink. There are so many syrup options to try. This Honey Lavender Syrup is another fun choice.
See this Caramel Iced Coffee Recipe for another sweet and creamy option. You can leave out the ice cubes and freeze that in your slushie maker as well! Just double the recipe so the volume is above the minimum line.

Equipment
For home preparation, you will need to have a slushy machine. A measuring cup is also needed. But besides those couple of items, you're set and ready to start.
Storage
You really need to make this fresh. If you try to save it for later in the fridge or freezer, the slush will either melt or freeze solid.

Common Questions
Of course! If you've ever ordered this from specialty coffee shops, then you know toppings are part of the fun. Drizzle with chocolate syrup or chocolate sauce, or dice up some dark chocolate squares or shavings and sprinkle on top. You can even do some festive sprinkles or mini chocolate chips for fun. Whipped cream is our favorite.
Absolutely. Any type of coffee will work for this. You can even pick a flavored coffee to use. I always tell people to try it in different ways and see what they like the best. That way, you can switch it up the next time and have fun with it.
That's up to you. It does contain caffeine when using regular coffee. If you don't want your child to have caffeine, you can swap for the decaf blend or keep it all to yourself to enjoy.
