- Heavy cream - Helps to make a rich and creamy base.
- Whole milk - The added fat content in the whole milk is needed.

How to Make Cherry Cordial Ice Cream
Step One: Mix the ice cream ingredients together until smooth.
Step Two: Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker. Churn according to the manufacturer's directions.
Step Three: ​The mixture should be nice and creamy. It will look like soft serve.
Step Four: Add in the chocolate. Mix gently.
Step Five: Add in the halved cherries.
Step Six: Put the mixture into a freezer-safe container and freeze for 3-4 hours or until firm.
Top Tip
If you are concerned about using raw egg yolks in ice cream, you can purchase pasteurized eggs or temper the ice cream base.
Substitutions
- Leave out the Amaretto - You don't have to add this to the ice cream if you don't want to. It adds a great flavor but is completely optional.
Variations
- Homemade chocolate chips - You can make your own chocolate chips or buy them at the store to add to this simple dessert. The chocolaty coating paired with the cherry flavor is so good!
- Almond extract - Give this dessert a sophisticated almond taste by using almond extract instead of vanilla.
- Natural flavors - If you don't want any artificial flavor in this simple dessert, you could also leave out the jar of maraschino cherries and use real cherries! This is a simple way to add that cherry flavor without the processing of the cherries.
- Use a different liquor - I think that adding a chocolate liquor instead of sweet Amaretto would pair really well with the succulent maraschino cherries.

Ingredients
Ice Cream Base
- 1.5 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- ¾ cup maraschino cherry juice
- 10 maraschino cherries
- ½ cup sugar
- 3 egg yolks ***
- 2 tablespoon amaretto
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Mix-Ins
- ½ cup maraschino cherries halved
- ½ cup chopped chocolate
Instructions
- Combine ice cream base ingredients. Blend until smooth.
